Lisa has been with Prevention First for ten years, working in the Accountant position for six months then moving into the role of Controller. Prior to joining Prevention First, Lisa worked for three years as an auditor in public accounting (two years as an Assurance Associate at Clifton Gunderson LLP, then one year as a Senior Accountant at Sikich LLP, when they acquired Clifton Gunderson LLP in 2007). During her employment as an auditor, Lisa worked primarily with nonprofit clients, and therefore gained much experience in both general accounting for nonprofits and grants management. Lisa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 2006, followed by her Master’s Degree in Accountancy in 2009. Lisa also earned the designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 2008.
Lisa works as a department of ONE at Prevention First, taking care of everything accounting-related from accounts payable to financial statement / audit prep. In her role, she is forced to stay abreast of not only NFP accounting updates, but also be proficient in the administration and management of federal and state grants.
Along with being a member of the ICPAS, Lisa is also a member of the AICPA and the NGMA (National Grants Management Association).
Lisa is married with two wonderful kids! Because of the great work-life balance promoted by Prevention First, Lisa is able to work a flexible schedule from home, which gives her the ability to spend great quality time with her little ones! It’s chaos most days, but she wouldn’t trade it for the world!
